About Us

Our Mission & Vision

We are a community-based collaborative of Pinellas youth, parents, organizations, and community members.

For sex education to be effective it must be evidence-based and developmentally/age appropriate.

Comprehensive sex ed must address sexual harassment and assault and educate on healthy consensual relationships.

Comprehensive sex ed must be offered to all students, with an ``opt out`` option rather than ``opt in,`` with no student sectors being automatically opted out based on activities or ability.

Our VISION is comprehensive, LGBTQ-inclusive, developmentally-appropriate, accessible, sex education policy in Pinellas County.
Our MISSION is to ensure that Pinellas young people are provided with the knowledge of sexuality and sexual health that they deserve.

How do we change policy?

Here's our plan:

Educate

Using community outreach, social media, and our locally produced mini-video series, we will educate the community, stakeholders, and policymakers about comprehensive sex education.

Relationship-Building

Our collaborative will meet and recruit partners to further our mission. This includes talking with parents, constituents, and stakeholders about their part in making positive change toward comprehensive sex education in Pinellas County.

Advocacy

With the help of engaged community members and our collaborative, we will advocate for policy workshopping of the current sex education policy (abstinence plus) to investigate the need for comprehensive sex education policy change.

Support

We will be working with community groups and our collaborative networks to provide support for policy change through postcard writing, petitions, and other advocacy strategies.
